Painting has been a part of Vitor Azambuja's life since his childhood. His father, Lielzo Azambuja, is a famous painter and illustrator in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. But in Vitor's life, canvasses and brushes had to wait. For about fifteen years his time was spent between school and studying piano with passion. At this point in time, drawing used to be a sort of relaxing exercise, a means of putting out free expression.
When he was around twenty years old, he suddenly recovered his origins and painting became his new passion. At the same time, he began his career as an art director at an agency. Since then, he has combined his activities in the agency with the work in his studio. Vitor is now thirty six, lives in São Paulo and is an even more passionate painter. His work explores flowers. It is a re-ocurring theme.
The history of art is full of examples of monothematic painters. Most of them manage to express themselves very richly through the variations and subtlenesses of the details. With Azambuja's work it's not different. In each one of his paintings he explores the theme based on his previous works. In a way, when we see his most recent paintings , it feels like we're looking at them for the first time.
